Shaken not Stirred!

This month we have a brief chat with Harry.

It is a very brief chat as he is busy about to start his shift as Bartender at The Waterfront (on one of our particularly busy sunny October weekends)!

Harry has been working at The Waterfront for three years and there’s nothing he loves more than knocking up cocktails for the people of Hythe, and those visiting the town on holiday.

He enjoys the pace of the shifts and is neither shaken nor stirred when the restaurant is fully booked and everyone seems to want a cocktail at the same time! As well as the pace of the shifts, Harry says it’s also his great team of colleagues and the lovely customers which make the role so rewarding.

He first become interested in cocktails and all things bar based about five years ago at his first bar job and says that the most popular cocktail at The Waterfront is the Pornstar Martini. Who doesn’t love a cocktail that comes with a side of prosecco?!

An average day at work for Harry is pretty non stop; serving customers, knocking up cocktails from the huge range we offer, and supporting the rest of the team in delivering excellent customer service.

Harry's favourite cocktail to make is the Mai Thai, a popular Tiki drink. It is a rum based cocktail that was a new addition to the Summer Cocktail Menu this year. Mai Thai is a magical blend of Dark and White Rum, Orange Curacao, Orgeat Syrup, Lime Juice and Sugar.

We asked Harry what the most unusual drink he has been asked to make was – Wine and Coke! AKA: Kalimotxo. It originated in Spain in the 70’s and is equal parts red wine and cola. Apparently an invention of servers at a festival who were trying to cover up bad red wine!

Harry is normally cocktailed out by the end of the working week so doesn’t tend to take work home! But, he does have a favourite cocktail, Pineapple Express, a cocktail he had whilst on holiday in Corfu in Greece – sounds divine!
